Chambers on Popeye
November 18 2008

We all know remarkable people. Few can be as remarkable as Jack Chambers.

A scholar of renown, Jack travels the world as a celebrated expert on sociolinguistics. His books set the standard.

He is equally one of the finest jazz writers ever. Milestones: The Music and Times of Miles Davis is a classic. His articles on various topics in jazz are that rare blend of the informed and the enjoyable.

Working with CODA jazz magazine, Jack also does radio Jazz Facts Minutes he syndicates. On top of everything, Jack has a killer radio voice.

Jack honoured me by doing a Jazz Facts Minute on my version of 'Popeye' from 'Mungle Music'. With Jack's permission (thanks Jack), click on the link below and have a listen!

A brilliant adventure. On his latest recording, My Mother's Father's Song, Ron Davis embraces both his family's rich cultural heritage, and boldly re-engages with the jazz standard.
